Tonight I came across 12 Zodiac paintings which were unknown to me before. They are by the Dutch artist Johfra who passed away in 1998. I particularly love his interpretation of Capricorn. See the Youtube video for the Zodiac paintings.

Other paintings I liked are Arachne and Hecate. Below you can find Arachne by Johfra, by chance the asteroid is also of importance in my chart. More Johfra works can be viewed on this site.

The myth of Arachne is a very sad one:

In astrology, we have an asteroid maiden called Arachne. Arachne was a peasant girl who hung herself after being disgraced in a weaving contest with Minerva. Minerva was a Goddess who challenged Arachne to a contest. When Arachne’s weaving work was equally beautiful, Minvera, in a jealous rage sliced her weave/web from top to bottom. She then changed her into a spider and is now known for her skill at weaving. Arachne’s astrological glyph (picture) is a spiders web! Was it Shakespeare who said “Oh what a tangled web we weave, when first we practice to deceive?” – From this digital magazine.

I was in a very creative mood recently and have created a “graphic depiction” of my own natal chart. It was up on my personal blog for a while, but I decided it belonged here. I’m attempting to create more of these but expressing the symbols on other people’s charts is a much more difficult thing to do. With my Capricorn Ascendant, Uranus trine Mars in angular houses and the weight of the chart hanging in house 8 you could say this was quite easy.

It’s beautiful isn’t it? The painting I used should be familiar: Eugéne Delacroix (1830). It’s called “Liberty leading the people”.
